Sylvan Parade

Can I just say : I love that both Tanner's and my family are so close to us!

On Saturday we were able to drive up to Sylvan Lake for their annual parade,
more specifically, we went up to see Trent play his bag pipes with the Innisfail Pipe Band.
Yup, Trent plays the bag pipes. And he's really good, too.
I'm quite impressed with/proud of Trent for deciding only a couple of years ago that he wanted to learn to play the bagpipes. He already knows how to play piano, organ, and trumpet (am I missing anything else?)
He's a one man band, that one!

(Yeah. Yeah. I'm too slow and didn't manage to get a picture of him from the front.)

Parker and Jillian marched with the band, carrying the banner.

(Did anyone else think of Newsies after reading those last three words?)
It was near the beginning of the parade when Parker and Jillian passed us, so they were super serious/nervous and they hardly smiled and never let go of the banner.
Jennie tells us that by the end of the parade they were waving and shouting, saying hi and full of smiles.

Jennie walked along to supervise.

(You're awesome, Jennie!)

The parade was fun to watch.
Gwen was pretty cute, waiving and saying "Hi!" to everyone who passed by.
I guess she figured it out that if you get people's attention, they'll give you candy.
Gwen got a lot of candy.
Lily stayed pretty chill during the parade, I blame the milk and graham cracker stupor she was in.
With the ominous clouds above threatening rain, we stayed dry and warm.

(With our girls.)

We sure love our family.
