It's been a long debate on whether or not/when/to whom we should make this announcement. But I think it's starting to get a little obvious. We are having another baby!I am already 19 weeks along and some of you may be wondering why it has taken us so long to let out the good news.
I'll tell you why.
I am A-. Tanner is O+. Some of you may not know the concerns that could arise with such a pairing. I sure didn't. It is all a little confusing, so check it out here. So what has happened with me is that I have become sensitized before recieveing the Rhogam shot and have started making antibodies that are harmful, potentially fatal, to this little baby. We found out about this when I was pregnant with Gwen. Luckily, Gwen was born a totally healthy baby with no anemia or jaundice. But we were left wondering if we would even be able to have another child after Gwen as conditions would worsen and be more dangerous for each subsequent baby. We were afraid of not being able to have another child, or having a child with severe brain damage. I guess, we still are not out of the woods just yet, as this is still a concern. But we feel really positive about everything. I'll admit that I have had my days of crying out of fear, but Tanner and I both feel that we are being very well taken care of by our doctors and by the Lord. Everything is going to turn out alright.
The reason that we've chosen now to start announcing this publicly is because we feel that we should share our joy with you, and our fears. I was talking with my "little" sister, and she recommended that I share the news good or bad, because in sharing we will receive added prayer and support from our friends. Plus, we are down right excited! We are having another baby, for goodness sake!
I had my first ultrasound today! The doctor said that the baby is doing really well and very healthy. Still, things need to be closely monitored to make sure that the baby is doing okay. This means ultrasounds EVERY 2 WEEKS! July seems so far away now that I'm looking at my calender. That's about 10 ultrasounds! Wowzers.
And, for those of you who are curious: we are having another girl :)
