Ginger Tea

Late last night I started to feel a cold coming on. This morning I woke up to a bad chest cold that left me coughing and hacking my lungs out all day. It has been amazing. The only thing that I could think of today was my dad, and his ginger tea. His ginger tea is the MOTHER of all cold/flu remedies. No joke. The ginger is good for the stomach and clears up the sinuses, the honey soothes the throat. Lemon is high in Vitamin c and is also full of phytochemicals that help boost the immune system. If you have a lemon, ginger root, honey and a nasty cold, you need to make this! Here is what you do:

1. Thinly slice a small section of your ginger root. Place in small pot with two cups of water. Cover and boil for 5 minutes. (If you want a stronger tea, like me, boil for 7-10 minutes.)

2. In a mug, add 1 Tbsp of lemon juice and 1 Tbsp of liquid honey. (If you have it, you can add a couple drops of echinacea, or even a Ricola cough drop)

3.Pour in water from pot and stir until mixed.

4. Enjoy! (because I sure did)

  1. I love ginger lemon tea. It's absolutely delicious!!

I never have ginger root though, so I have to make do with sprinkling ground ginger into my cup.
