The Abominable Snow Baby

As most of you know, a large part of Alberta got covered in snow yesterday, including Calgary. Gwen really hasn't had much experience playing in the snow, so I really wanted to get her out there to play. I was also REALLY excited for Gwen to wear her snowsuit. We were given the snowsuit last winter at Gwen's baby shower in St. Albert, and I've been dying to use it! However, Gwen wasn't so eager....... she screamed and cried the entire time I tried to get her into it. She was acting like I was torturing her or something! Maybe in someway I was? Once we FINALLY got outside, Gwen cheered up a little bit; all the snow was pretty cool and exciting to look at.....but not to touch. As I was trying to move snow around, some got splashed up into her face and she TOTALLY lost it! It took a long while for her to calm down again. I decided to leave the confines of the backyard and to take Gwen to the playground behind our house. Gwen really loved the slide and walking around (with assistance) the equipment. She really didn't like it when she lost her balance and fell onto her bum, though. It was like a tragedy has just occurred! I'm hoping that Gwen's next encounter with the snow will be a lot happier. Maybe she will just need to be better slept and better fed before we go out. It was fun though. I'll admit, I'm amused sometimes when Gwen screams and cries. It's almost funny. And then I remember that I'm her mommy and that, sometimes, its okay to baby her. After all, she is a baby.
