Tanner's Cookies

Tanner's mom has a great Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe that is so good. While we were dating, Tanner would make them all the time, having the recipe memorized. They were officially dubbed "Tanner's Cookies". Being the stubborn person that I am, I refused to believe that they were the best chocolate chip cookies out there, despite the fact that they were, indeed, extremely delicious. In the months after we were married I tried several different cookie recipes to prove Tanner wrong. After about a dozen or so attempts, and several glasses of milk, it was concluded that, yes, "Tanner's Cookies" were the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.....possibly ever. Other people agree with me on this (even my mother, which is a beg deal), as I have been asked to share this recipe with many who have tried them in our kitchen.

Tanner has just made his cookies Sunday afternoon. Gwen enjoyed eating the dough from the beaters and sneaking a cookie while I tried taking pictures of the finished product.

Here's the recipe. Try them out for yourselves!

TANNER'S COOKIES

1c. softened butter/margarine
1c. white sugar
1c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1tsp. vanilla
2c. flour
1tsp. baking powder
1tsp. baking soda
1/2tsp. salt
2c. oats
1/2c. coconut
1c. chocolate chips

1. Cream margarine and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, and mix well.

2. Add flour, b. powder, b. soda, and salt to bowl. Mix thoroughly.

3. Add oats, coconut, and chocolate chips. Mix.

4. Roll into 1" balls and place on greased baking sheet, 2" apart. Bake for 9-11 minutes at 350 degrees. (When I take the baked cookies out of the oven, I like to bang the sheet down so that the cookies fall. I think it makes for a softer/chewy cookie. I don't know....maybe I'm just imagining it).

Enjoy!
Jenny
