The Fox and the Penguin

I never felt like this when I was pregnant with Gwen. Not even at 39 weeks. When I wake up in the morning I am really sore and stiff. I can barely pull Gwen into bed with us (as she's usually standing right there, bright-eyed, holding her blanket), let alone get myself out of bed. Tanner is really great about taking Gwen in the mornings when I need to rest/take time to stretch. Walking down the stairs is usually the hardest thing, as I'm still wobbly and unbalanced. Gwen is really good to me in the early morning. After breakfast, she is usually just wants to snuggle her blanket and watch cartoons. This makes mornings a whole lot easier for me. Thanks, Gwen.

By lunch, it is beautiful and warm outside, and it is hard to keep Gwen cooped up in the house. She loves to go outside and run around. Running is probably her favorite thing to do, as she loves to be chased. However, this little game of hers is less the Fox and the Hound than it is the Fox and the Penguin! Gwen is easily just as fast or perhaps faster then me, and it's all lollipops and rainbows until we are in the Library or at the doctor's office and I need her to stay with me. Well, I guess it's only annoying to me, as Gwen is usually laughing like it is the most hilarious thing ever; she's sprinting around the corner and I'm waddling after her in all my pregnant glory. Again, this is were Tanner is really great, as he will do all the running and chasing needed to keep that little girl happy and, most importantly, safe.

I still have several weeks to go before baby arrives. My goal for the next month and a bit will be to just take it easy. I know that Gwen will make this especially difficult as I feel she has more energy with each day (or perhaps I just have less). Despite all the discomfort and waddling, I am pretty happy. Tanner and I are both very excited to meet our baby girl. Last night, I brought up the infant car-seat and we had a "moment", imagining a little person occupying the little seat. This morning Gwen found it, and had her own little moment, too. Doesn't she look ginormous!? (And yes, she's sucking her thumb. Don't judge. We are going to deal with it later this year.)

On today's To-Do List:
   - Clean both bedrooms
   - Do one load of laundry
   - Sew baby blanket
   - Stretch

  1. Cute story Jenny. The last few months are always hard with a toddler, but so worth it! Hang in there! You're a fabulous Mamma!
