Little Giants

Earlier this month our little family went to a very special football game at McMahon Stadium. The Stampeders were away that weekend and two middle school football teams had taken their place on the field. It was my nephew's first football game of the season. The coaches wanted to give the season a good kick start, so what do they do? They rent out the McMahon Stadium! How incredibly cool is that!? The Thompson's invited us out to the big game, and it was simply the coolest thing.....possibly ever.

First off, I have to mention the bright orange shoes.

When my sister took Berg to buy his gear, she wanted to pump him up and get excited about playing football so she let him pick out his own stuff. And there you have it, Berg picked out cleats of the brightest orange color you could possibly imagine. But you know what.... they actually looked really cool out on the field against the blue and black uniforms. Conveniently, if you were ever unsure of where Berg was on the field, you simply had to look for a flash of orange to find him.

Now, have any of you seen the movie "Little Giants". Well, that is all I could think about while we hollered and cheered on our team. It's a middle school team, so you have little 10-year-olds playing alongside 13-year-old teenageers who have just hit a major growth spurt. Some were just as tall as the coaches. With this kind of combination someone is bound to get hurt. Check out these two players, #92 and #16. See what I mean? Poor kid,  he doesn't stand a chance.

I'm not going to pretend to know much about football (If you know my father, you know that I probably didn't watch a lot of football growing up. You can then imagine how much less I know about hockey.) All I know was that it was a lot of fun to watch, and that Berg's team kicked the other team's trash.
Go Cyclones!
