Is there a more primitive sounding illness than hand-foot-mouth disease?

I don't think so.

Gwen and Lily both have said virus right now.

This is Gwen's second round this summer.

It's highly contagious, so if your child is in contact with another child who has HFMD

you can be certain your kid will get it. 

Oh, and Gwen still sucks her thumb,

so there is zero chance she'll escape unscathed after such an encounter.

I imagine that this is her thought process when she meets an ill playmate: 

"Hey, you have the flu!? Sounds cool!"

And then sucks her thumb for good measure.

* sigh *
