Imaginative Play:
the process by which children represent themselves in imagined situations.
This afternoon Gwen could be found in the dining room playing with her toy cars, a big styrofoam mold, and paper towel. She was putting all her cars to sleep in her own car motel. Of course they all had to be sleeping on their backs, tucked in with paper towels for blankets. Apparently I was talking too loud on the phone, so Gwen had to repeatedly tell me to be quiet: "Shhhh. Sleeping." It was very sweet to observe and to listen to. I didn't understand Gwen's whispered one sided conversations, but I could imagine they went something like this:
"Are you tired from your long drive?"
"I'll tuck you in. Do you want a drink?"
"Don't forget to say your prayers."
"I love you! Goodnight."
After all the cars where tucked in and lullaby-ed to sleep,
we did some body tracing.
Gwen LOVES this.

Even though Gwen gives us our fair share of tantrums,
I absolutely love this age.
At 2 years old, everything seems so new and magical to her
and I am her hero.
