Heritage Park

We just had a fantabulous day on Saturday with Tanner's parents. We ate cupcakes. We went to Heritage Park. The weather was perfect. The company was great. AND, most importantly, Gwen and Lily were in excellent moods: Lily, because she was always well fed; Gwen, because Grandma was here. I mean, seriously...

It was the last weekend for Heritage Park before it closed for winter. The weather the day/night before was pretty miserable and I was afraid that it would be too cold/wet to go. Luckily the clouds parted and the sun came out. It was still a little nippy, but perfectly so. I dressed Lily in the fuzzy bear suit that we had bought for Gwen when she was a baby, and put her into the baby wrap. I have never had so many people look at me so strangely, and I couldn't blame them. When Lily's hood was up, she looked like a teddy bear, and I looked like a crazy person carrying around the large teddy bear.

Gwen was less scared of the train this time than she was when we first visit the park earlier this year. When we came in July, it didn't matter where we where in the park, Gwen would hear the train blowing it's horn and would then start to scream/cry. This time around she actually wanted to get up close to see the train and would yell "Choo! Choo!" when the horn blew. Definite progress. She still, however, is scared of the midway rides. In the past we have had her ride The Caterpillar and Ferris Wheel rides, both of which ended in tears and pretty much made her scared of every other ride in the midway. This time we convinced her to go on the Merry-Go-Round. She didn't last very long, and I ended up having to take her off her horse and sitting on the the inside track. Even then I could hear Gwen whimpering.

In addition to the midway, we all enjoyed walking the streets, checking out the trains, feeding the livestock, "going to school", and eating cookies from the bakery. We had a great time at the Park. I took a bunch of photos, and I'll share them you while pointing out that Gwen carried her monkey (called "Mon-ee") everywhere with her. It will be like "Where's Waldo". Some pictures are more obvious than others, but I assure you, the monkey (even if it is just it's fuzz) can be found in every picture.

I am excited and looking forward to going back to Heritage Park at Christmas time when it is decorated and festive. The LDS church also puts on an amazing Nativity just outside the park grounds that is free to anyone who wants to come.
