About 3 years ago I bought a cardboard recipes box from Michael's. I was so in love with it as it came with matching recipes cards. I spent the next few weeks transferring my recipes from their once 'blah' cards to the new fancy cards. The new box only cost me $1.50, so you can guess that the quality wasn't that spectacular, but it did the job. After 3 years of use, the paper started peeling off, revealing the cardboard beneath. Such a sad day, I thought that I would have to retire the recipe box that had once given me so much joy. Alas, a crafty ambition popped into my noggen! I decided to recycle/revamp my shabby looking recipe box into a new fabulous one. With some paper, thicksters, ribbon, and mod modge, I ended up with a pretty fun looking recipe box!
With this new box, I have a new ambition to actually USE the recipes that are kept inside it. I've also decided to try out meal planning! This will be hard for me, as I am the queen of last minute one-pot-wonders. But I am going to try. I know that I will be happy if I do it, and surely, Tanner will be too! Tonight I will try a chicken-pot-stew recipe I got from my sister-in-law yesterday, and a celebration braid (bread) recipes I got from my mother.
I invite you all to share to share any recipes you love and use in your families, or share any advice you have to help me with meal planning. Post a comment or email me at jenny.allred@hotmail.com. Thanks everyone! Happy cooking!

Meal planning is easier if you have a cute calender. I like my calender. It's pretty. ^_^ And I can totally re-use the same recipe every 2 or 3 weeks if Ben really likes it.
ReplyDeleteI also make up my grocery list for every 2 weeks after I've made the meal plan. I like to have the recipes handy, so I don't have to run to the store for coconut milk or something random like that for a recipe.
And don't forget to schedule a night to eat up all the leftovers!!!! (or eat them for lunch..)
