Lily is officially TWO YEARS OLD!
We celebrated the last 24 months of her life by taking her to the store to pick out her birthday book.
Each year, on their birthday, our children will get to pick any book they would like to read.
This year, Lily picked out a foam covered board book about Abby Cadabby who tries to make Elmo a cheese sandwich. Not really a candidate for any children's literary awards, but Lily loves it and it only cost a dollar. This is a new tradition for us, so Tanner and I look forward to seeing how our children's taste in literature evolves with each of their birthdays.
For supper we ate spaghetti, Lily's favourite.
Then we quickly rushed around to get ourselves ready for our family photo shoot.
Despite the fun day that we had had as a family, Lily was in a weird mood during the photo shoot and barely smiled for our photographer.
She pretty much made this face 90% of the time:
Once home, we invited Susan and Abraham over and we sang and ate cake in the backyard.
(Funny thing: I was taking a video of us singing happy birthday and as proof that I can't do two things at the same time, I sang Gwen's name instead of Lily's. We all had a good laugh about it, and then did a retake of the whole song, where I used the correct daughter's name.)
Lily is a little sweetie, I love her so much!
Happy Birthday to my little two-year-old!

That is the best idea for a birthday tradition!! When I have kids someday I am going to have to steal that one.
